These include claims of undue influence, lack of capacity to create a will, invalidity, interpretation and rectification of wills, variation of wills and trusts, and contentious estate administrations. Jaimie counsels clients in identifying and preventing elder abuse and misuse of Power of Attorney. She also guides clients with applications for adult guardianship and committeeship, whether or not contested, and she is well-versed in dealing with the Public Guardian & Trustee. Although she focuses primarily on estate law, Jaimie assists select clients through challenging claims involving indigenous law, construction and business disputes.
Jaimie emphasizes client-centred dispute resolution, and is known for her practical approach. She aims to resolve matters early and through negotiation where possible. She has represented clients at all levels of court in B.C., the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal, and in mediation.
Outside the office, Jaimie loves to train horses in the Olympic equestrian sport of Eventing. She recently obtained her Course Design Official’s license, and sits on the Safety Committee of the B.C. Eventing Association.
